RDL Technologies is a Leicester based precision engineering company providing a complete subcontract manufacturing service to customers throughout the UK.
As part of the RDL Group, we offer customers access to extensive CNC machining, precision engineering and metal finishing capabilities from within one manufacturing group. Our services include CNC sliding head machining, CNC turning, CNC milling, precision grinding, metal finishing, laser marking, component assembly and associated secondary operations.
Across the RDL Group we operate more than 35 CNC machines, supported by extensive automation and modern manufacturing technology. This allows us to support everything from complex precision components and repeat batch production through to high volume turned parts.
Our focus is on providing customers with a reliable, competitive and flexible manufacturing partner. By combining machining, finishing and secondary operations within the RDL Group, we can manage more of the manufacturing process and supply components complete to customer specification.
Specialities & Technologies
Extensive CNC Sliding Head Machining
RDL Technologies operates an extensive range of Star CNC sliding head machines. Our 19 Star sliding head machines cover bar capacities from 2mm through to 40mm diameter and are equipped with Fanuc controls and automatic 3 metre bar loading systems, providing highly efficient production of precision turned components.
Sliding head technology is particularly suited to complex components and medium to high volume production, allowing multiple machining operations to be completed efficiently within a single production cycle.
Our experienced team manufactures precision turned components for customers across a wide range of industries, including demanding applications where consistency, dimensional accuracy and reliable repeat production are essential.
Automated CNC Turning
Alongside our sliding head capacity, RDL has invested significantly in modern CNC turning and automation.
Our turning department includes twin spindle, multi axis and automated CNC lathes capable of producing a broad range of precision components. Automated loading and unmanned production allow us to manufacture repeat and higher volume work competitively while maintaining consistent quality.
This capability gives us considerable flexibility across different component sizes, materials, production volumes and levels of complexity.
High Precision CNC Milling
Our CNC milling department complements our extensive turning capabilities and allows RDL to provide a complete machining solution for both turned and milled components.
Modern CNC vertical machining centres provide accurate and efficient production of precision milled components, as well as secondary milling operations on turned parts.
Continued investment in machining technology and capacity enables us to support prototypes, repeat production and larger production requirements while maintaining competitive lead times.
Metal Finishing & Secondary Operations
Through the wider RDL Group we can offer customers considerably more than CNC machining alone.
Through Plating Technologies Leicester, the RDL Group also offers an extensive range of metal finishing processes including zinc, zinc/iron, zinc/nickel, nickel and electroless nickel plating, together with stainless steel passivation and associated finishing operations.
The addition of Plating Technologies Leicester to the RDL Group has further expanded our metal finishing capabilities, allowing us to offer customers a more complete manufacturing supply chain and reducing the need to coordinate machining and finishing across multiple suppliers.
Where required, RDL can manage components from raw material through machining, secondary operations and finishing to final inspection and delivery.
Quality & Inspection
Quality is supported by our ISO 9001:2015 certified management system and dedicated inspection facilities. Our metrology capability includes ViciVision optical measurement, CMM inspection, Keyence measurement systems, surface testing and a comprehensive range of calibrated inspection equipment.Complete Subcontract Manufacturing
